The M1 gunner's quadrant is a mechanical measuring instrument. It is used to measure angles in the vertical plane (barrel inclination) and to check the accuracy of the gun sight's indications.
Scaled according to an angular scale of 6400 in the range from 0 to 1600 NATO mils, i.e., from 0°-45° and from 45°-90°. The device's accuracy is +/-0.5 mils, i.e., 3.375’.The quadrant is made of metal using machining techniques. It consists of a frame, a ruler, and a slider with a spirit level. The frame is in the shape of an irregular pentagon with a toothed arc inside.
Feet for mounting the instrument on the barrel housing; a vial in the transverse adjustment body indicates its vertical alignment.
